Biography

Dr. Abdallah obtained his Bachelor of Science in natural resources and environmental science from Libya’s Omar Al-Mukhtar University in 2008. After this, he moved to Oregon State University where he obtained his Master of Science in rangeland ecology and management in 2013, a Master of Science in soil science in 2017, and a Doctor of Philosophy in rangeland ecology and management in 2019. Following the completion of his Doctor of Philosophy, he worked as a Bioscience Research Technician in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Science at Oregon State University and then as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the same institution.

The overall goal of Dr. Abdallah’s research focuses on the utilization of his expertise in wildland plant ecophysiology, restoration ecology, and rangeland management to better maintain and improve rangelands and soil health in ecosystems so as to restore degraded arid land ecosystems subject to degradation like salinity, groundwater decline, and woody plant encroachment, thus providing policymakers with the necessary information to make better land management decisions regarding rangelands and sustainable agricultural practices, as well as publish original rangeland ecology research in peer-reviewed journals.

Funding from the Oregon Beef Council (OBC) for the juniper water use study.
2015-2019: LNASP extension scholarship from MS to Ph.D. based on meeting eligibility requirements.
2010-2013: Libyan-North American Scholarship Program (LNASP). Governmental fully funded scholarship including English learning and MS studies based on my outstanding achievement during my B.Sc.
