Vanessa joined Oregon State University as a faculty research assistant for Oregon State University’s Extension Service in 2016 but has been a part of the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center-Burns, in the heart of sagebrush country, since 2013. She has held the position of Senior Faculty Research Assistant I since 2021. Vanessa specializes in rangeland ecology to support wildlife habitat, spending about half of her time on stakeholder-driven applied research projects and the other half advancing education and outreach programs. Her research and extension programs fall under four themes: 1. Evaluating the effects of land management practices on sagebrush associated species and habitat 2. Developing management solutions for degraded or threatened sagebrush ecosystems 3. Strategic conservation to support resilient rangelands 4. Promoting interest and knowledge in resilient sagebrush ecosystems
