As a student in OSU's Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences, your options are almost as diverse as the resources you'll be trained to manage! Animal and Rangeland Sciences are important to the social, economic, and political development of Oregon, the Nation, and the world. As a student you will have numerous opportunities to apply your classroom knowledge to field experiences so you will be prepared to enter the professional arena. Undergraduate Degree Programs
We believe student learning is maximized through a combination of multidisciplinary coursework and experiential learning. Students find their niche among the following programs: Animal Behavior, Animal Bio-Health/Pre-Professional, Equine Science, Livestock Production, Rangeland Ecosystem Science & Management Starting the 2018-19 academic year multiple options in Rangeland Science will be available. Minors in Animal Sciences and Rangeland Ecosystem Ecology and Management are also available.
Graduate Degree Programs
Our graduate programs make available research opportunities ranging from applied ecology and management of rangelands to laboratory animals to beef cattle to exotics, like llamas, and from basic research at the systems and molecular level to the management or applied level. Our faculty has received national and international recognition for their research contributions. We offer the following graduate degree programs: PhD, Masters Thesis.
Online Degree Programs
We recognize that there is a diverse and talented pool of place-bound students with whom we know could bring great value to our department. We are proud to offer several online courses and programs, one of them, Rangeland Science, is the only prorgram of its kind in the United States. Our online courses and degrees are as rigorous and robust as our campus-based courses; they leverage the lastest technology to enhance student learning; and offer a variety of experiential learning opportunities. In recent years an increasing number of students who already hold a degree are looking to earn knowledge, skills and credits to meet OPM requirements for Federal Agency employment or for career advancement within an NGO.
