Barn and management system for OSU Swine

The Swine Center is located one-half mile west of campus on Campus Way.  The management system includes complete confinement; lagoon manure disposal; all in/all out farrowing system; SPF-like health maintenance program, and the use of A.I. for genetic improvement. The spring farrowed litters are sold in March/April at the department's Youth Pig Sale for use as 4-H/FFA county fair project pigs, and a select group of elite pigs are shown by OSU at the Oregon State Fair.
